OUR GOAL

Our goal is to create a global society where every individual enjoys equal rights and respect.

Ever since our establishment in 2014, DMC-HRD has engaged in numerous human rights focused initiatives both within Denmark and in developing countries, where we often collaborate with local partners.

The promotion and defense of the rights of disadvantaged minorities and marginalized communities is central to DMC-HRD's focus. Our ultimate goal is to foster an inclusive and equitable world for all.

WHO ARE WE?

The Danish Minorities Centre for Human Rights and Development (DMC-HRD) was founded with the core objective of promoting active global citizenship among immigrants, refugees, and other foreign nationals residing in Denmark. These groups frequently encounter language barriers and other obstacles that limit their involvement in Danish NGOs, often excluding them from decision-making processes and agenda-setting within the NGOs.

To address this disparity, DMC-HRD provides immigrants, refugees, and foreign nationals in Denmark with meaningful volunteer opportunities to participate in the design and management of human rights focused projects and activities both in Denmark and abroad.

Through this inclusive platform, DMC-HRD seeks to intergrate and empower minority communities, amplifying their presence and impact within Danish civil society. The organization’s approach is instrumental in fostering a more inclusive and participatory civic environment in Denmark, ensuring that a diverse spectrum of voices contributes to social progress on local, regional, and global scales.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION

  1. Creating a platform for immigrants, refugees and other foreign nationals as well as Danish citizens to participate in projects which promote human rights, democracy, and sustainable development.
  2. Supporting social cohesion and integration of immigrants, refugees and other foreign nationals in the social and political aspects of Danish society.
  3. Celebrating cultural diversity within communities in Denmark, including supporting artistic and cultural expressions.
  4. Enhance the civic engagement of ethnic minorities and immigrants in Denmark by encouraging volunteerism to foster active citizenship.

HOW WE WORK

We operate through the dedicated support of our members and volunteers. Our projects and initiatives are made possible by the contributions from members and donors, alongside the invaluable time and effort of volunteers.

MEMBERSHIP AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We are open to all adults who align with its values and mission. Individuals can join by making an annual membership contribution of at least 50 DKK. In addition to membership, volunteer or intern opportunities help to foster deeper engagement and impact within the organization.

GOVERNANCE AND DECISION-MAKING

The Annual General Meeting (AGM), composed of DMC-HRD members, is the organization’s highest decision-making authority. The AGM is responsible for defining strategic directions and setting policies. Between AGM's, governance responsibilities are carried out by the DMC-HRD Board, which ensures that organizational activities stay aligned with the mission and values.

SECRETARIAT AND DAILY OPERATIONS

DMC-HRD’s day-to-day operations are managed by the Secretariat, led by the Director. The Secretariat handles project implementation and the efficient coordination of organizational tasks to maintain smooth, consistent operations.
